Mission
The members of the European Institute for Health Care Information (EIHCI) stretch themselves in to stimulate the implementation of best practice. The members contribute their expert knowledge at collecting, assessing and carrying out best practices, case studies and lessons learned in a variety of disciplines (medical, technical, communication, processes, etc.). Main goal is to support both professionals and organisations with practical information so they can improve quality and reduce expenses in one go. In line with this goal the EIHCI contributed many times to the reports 'Multiple Informatiose' and was involved in the Health Event in september 2006 where the findings were presented to members of Parliament and healthcare administrators in the Netherlands.

Mobile telephone applications
Theo van der Ven, chairman of the EIHCI, concluded that smart use of mobile telephone applications can make Health Care in the Netherlands much more efficient, provide patients with better care and save millions of euros on an annual basis. He urged the government and health insurers to seize this opportunity. At that meeting the making of a practical best practice manual about communication in Health Care was decided.

Publication of book on mZorg
This has resulted in the publication of the book "mZorg- Mobiele diensten in de zorgpraktijk" ("mCare - Mobile services in healthcare practice") by the EIHCI in September 2007. The book provides a collection of the best practices the use of mobile services in cure and care, as well as presents the vision of the major stakeholders in the healthcare sector in the Netherlands on the subject of "mZorg". The book provides an in depth and inspiring view of the current and future state of the art of mobile healthcare, and provides essential reading for healthcare professionals, managers and policy makers that are dealing with innovation and the improvement of healthcare delivery to patients.
